Bugis of Singapore, which used to be a seedy haunt for transsexuals, is now a popular shopping area for young Singaporean and visitors.
It is known for its covered and air conditioned shop-house street in the Bugis Junction shopping centre, as well as the bazaar hawkers in the nearby Bugis Street selling cheap merchandise, from T shirts to souvenirs. The recently added shopping centre Iluma has added much vigor to the area.
The location is served by the Bugis and Lavender MRT stations, and a stone throw away from a number of attractions, including Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay and some of the top museums in the country. Orchard is just a five-minute drive away. It is a good place to stay during your holidays Singapore.
